Why Study the Bible?

August 8, 2009 in Uncategorized

There are many reasons to study the Bible. Biblefox is designed to allow anyone to study the Bible, and for any reason, from the Atheist wanting to show that it is a ridiculous book full of errors, to the Christian cherishing every word as sent from God. Our hope is that these different people will be able to study the Bible freely and be able to share their thoughts freely, so that whatever is truth, will be brought to the light.

To test whether it is Truth

One of my favorite stories in the Bible is found in John 6. Jesus is giving a teaching which many find very hard to believe. He claims that He is “the bread which came down out of heaven” and whomever “eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:58). Because this teaching was hard to accept, many people turned away from Jesus.

66 At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?”

68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

John 6:66-69

To whom would we go? I really identify with Peter. Words are everywhere in this world. Everyone has something to say. But it has been my experience that I can go nowhere but to the Bible for the words of eternal life.

We all have different experiences, and many of us of have come to different conclusions. But the Truth cannot contradict itself, so either the Bible is God’s Word or it is not.

Biblefox is designed as a tool to facilitate the study of the Bible, so that we can each study the Bible for ourselves to determine if it is the Word of God. Whatever you believe about the Bible, feel free to create your own blog to use as a tool for sharing your thoughts with the world.

To better know the Truth

For those of us who come to the conclusion that the Bible is God’s Word, we have further reason to study the Word. We have discovered that God has given us the keys for furthering our knowledge of Him. He has given us the Bible, and through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, given us His Holy Spirit as our guide.

He has formed our minds and hearts to understand His Truth, and has put us in fellowship with one another as a Church in order that we might refine each other. God can divinely reveal any truth to us, but He gave us our minds as a tool that would could use to seek the truth through His Word. And He gave us the ability to create tools which can organize our thoughts, and further enhance our knowledge.

That’s where Biblefox comes in. Our passion is to design tools which help you organize your thoughts about the Bible and share them with the world. Create a blog, and begin writing about the Bible. We will automatically organize your blog according to the bible verses you mention. Then anyone can subscribe to read your blog alongside the Bible, just like a commentary or devotional.
