I wrote this paper for a recently seminary class. It is pretty lengthy, but I loved writing it, if you have time, enjoy:-) Trinity in Marriage INTRODUCTION There are several mysteries in the Christian faith that are hard to explain in human terms. Some of them include Jesus being 100% man and at the exact same time being 100% [...] -

So I was watching X-Men 3 last night with my wife (in response to the new X-Men movie which is good, I recommend!), and in the middle I started thinking, “Man that’d be tight to be Wolverine!” As I was thinking about running around and cutting people’s heads off I got a gentle reminder from the [...] -

INTRODUCTION When I was a baby Christian, a Bible teacher was inquiring which books we would like to study. I chimed in, “Isaiah!” His comment, however, was in the negative, saying it was a lot of dry history and judgments. That was certainly not my take on the prophet. Even as young in the Lord as I [...]

Toriano Mayo wrote a new blog post: Why Do You Try to Save Yourself by Works: Yes You Christians 1 year, 5 months ago · View
You know, something has been striking me recently as sort of surprising, and really disturbing. There are so many people who claimed they are saved by grace, but then they go on living, as if they were saved by works. We see this same problem in Galatians, and for some reason we think we are far [...] -

We confess this frequently at my church: “Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.” These are foundational Christian beliefs. Do you believe Christ is coming again? Many, many Scriptures reference the Lord’s Coming. Some of these just reference the “Day” or the “Revelation” but are included to show how foundational the Second Coming [...]

I often think that the first sacrifice Our Lord endured for love of mankind was leaving heaven for our sakes. He took on human flesh, which meant He probably endured some aches and pains and discomfort that would not have been necessary for Him to endure, except for our salvation. He left the glory and splendor of heaven for a life on earth during a time when there was no indoor plumbing and the many comforts we now enjoy in America! I think of this particularly when on mission trips. Many of the places I travel have conditions far below those to which I am blessed to enjoy in the comfort of my home. But in a small way, we imitate Christ. Indeed, we are called to imitate Christ. In this small aspect, missionaries endure, though for a brief period, discomfort to varying degrees, even some illness for the sake of those whom God loves. That sacrifice, though small compared to Christ’s, is precious to the Lord.
1 Peter 2:20-21 ”…. But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow His steps, ”

Someone mentioned to me after the sermon on Numbers 11 that it appears that both Israel and Moses complained, but Israel was judged and Moses was blessed. Why? What was the difference? Here are my thoughts as we compare Israel and Moses complaints. Lets first take a look at Israel’s complaint. Israel’s complaint seemed like [...]

Yes, I think that these Scriptures establish a pattern that points to continuing significance and ultimate fulfillment: Romans 15:4; Col 2:16 & 17; 1 Peter 1:12; 1 Cor 10:11. Also since Jesus Christ has not returned yet ”in like manner” as he ascended (Acts 1:11), His prophecies in Matthew 24-25 decidely have a double fulfillment [...]

Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord: Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children, that faint for hunger at the head of every street. (Lamentations 2:19) LET THE CHILDREN There is a sinister, ugly spirit, a [...]

Interestingly, while I’ve been working on a post about the characteristics of the antichrist, I’ve had a few conversations lately with people who are reading books that propose that there is NO “the antichrist” . Please forgive me if I’ve been rather zealous on the topic, but you’ll see why I think this is an important issue. [...]

This week’s Liturgy of the Word focused on living out the Gospel, that is doing the commandments God entrusted us. The scripture readings can be found here in full, but as I use them, I will quote the bible that is currently available within BibleFox. I’ll start by breaking it down by reading. The first reading [...]

Ok, I guess I can’t go to the bible part or else I lose all that I have written. So, I will go to the Bible part first, copy, and then come back and paste. I will make sure I don’t leave this page until I am done writing everything I want to. 1:1 Paul and [...]
