Oh, sometimes I’m so bad about updating my blog… I blame not having internet at home! But, since my last post, we started the adventure of church planting! Tory started the church planting residency in September and it’s already been an adventure!
God has been sooooo good through it and already I feel like [...] -

INTRODUCTION When I was a baby Christian, a Bible teacher was inquiring which books we would like to study. I chimed in, “Isaiah!” His comment, however, was in the negative, saying it was a lot of dry history and judgments. That was certainly not my take on the prophet. Even as young in the Lord as I [...]

I went outside to pick some of my deliciously sweet oranges this morning and discovered a Christmas present from the Lord. There’s a grapefruit tree growing right alongside our orange tree with lots of BIG fruit! Now, I don’t know how it got there, but it must have been growing there for years, so close to the orange tree that we never noticed it!
Spiritually, I hope someday to awake and discover some gift or fruit of the Spirit that the Lord’s been working in me for years and I didn’t even know it! Has that not already been the case when in a particular situation, suddenly when you need it most, you have supernatural patience or supernatural joy or supernatural understanding or even supernatural love? And you ask yourself, “Where did that come from?” The Spirit of God in you is working!
Hebrews 13:20 Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus, 21 make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

You know, something has been striking me recently as sort of surprising, and really disturbing. There are so many people who claimed they are saved by grace, but then they go on living, as if they were saved by works. We see this same problem in Galatians, and for some reason we think we are far [...] -

John’s teaching yesterday on 1 Samuel 5-6 was about how we can trust God to do His work with our help. He is supreme and He can overcome opposition and glorify Himself. I think that this story of the birth of Moses demonstrates those ideas as well. Here God takes care of Moses and [...]
