We live in auspicious times.  The darkness may be getting darker BUT – halleluYAH! – the LIGHT is getting LIGHTER!  (Isaiah 60:2) As the Lord sent a servant of His to tell me some years back, at my weakest physical point, near death, “The best is yet to come!”  And it’s been getting better ever since!  (Had [...]

I was just thinking about sin the other day while reading Isaiah. I started to think… we take sin way too lightly! We take advantage of God’s grace perhaps without even recognizing it! I was reading Isaiah 65:2-5 and noticed how deliberately God’s chosen people sinned against Him. Go read it. And read the whole book [...]

INTRODUCTION When I was a baby Christian, a Bible teacher was inquiring which books we would like to study. I chimed in, “Isaiah!” His comment, however, was in the negative, saying it was a lot of dry history and judgments. That was certainly not my take on the prophet. Even as young in the Lord as I [...]

My precious granddaughter’s name is “Hephzibah”. It’s a beautiful name but it isn’t simple and it isn’t convenient. When people first hear it, they want it re-pronounced, spelt, and explained. But the meaning is lovely: “my delight is in her”. Would every child know that their parents delight in them! God placed this name in [...]

What could possibly motivate an everyday couple to adopt a child? And if someone else I know adopts a child, but I do not feel led to do the same, what business is that to me as a Christian? Listen to how God has been speaking to specific people in Liveoak Bible Church out of Romans 15:1-14, [...]

Reading this passage first in the KJV, it reads ”The vile person shall no longer be called liberal, and the churl said to be bountiful.” The Spanish RVR uses the word ”generoso” for ”liberal”. Liberality or generosity is a positive trait. However, one is not really being liberal in the generous sense when they take someone else’s money to give away unwisely and without accountability! The passage goes on to read (Isa 32:6-7) that the scoundrel ”devises wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words…” Someday the scoundrels will have to answer to Almighty God. In the meantime, we need to defend the poor and help them to use God’s principals to truly prosper. I think it would be good not to call scoundrels ”liberal”, for in truth they are not. But the Church should be truly liberal as in generous and be a blessing!

Amen, I agree. Liberal in our giving but stonewall conservative in moral conviction.

Jesus goes into a synagogue, reads Isaiah 61:1-2 and says, ”Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” How exciting to have been there!

But equally exciting is the moment all believers experience when Jesus himself comes to dwell within us and fulfills God’s promise of salvation. And we continually have him living within us and causing other remarkable moments when we see him fulfilling the Scriptures in our lives.

Jesus said ….”rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” HalleluYAH! My name, my children’s names, my friends’ names, are written in heaven! But they are only written in heaven because they are engraved on the palms of His hands (Isa 49:16) and that by cruel nails. HalleluYAH! What a Savior!

Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord: Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children, that faint for hunger at the head of every street. I’ll kick off my Biblefox blog with a topic that’s been on my mind a lot recently. The lovely topic of…singleness.  Ah…singleness…  Yes, for those of you who don’t know me, I am single. And throughout the past 5 years or so, I’ve been on a roller coaster regarding this part of my life.  Sometimes [...]

Apparently, according to my Archaeological Study Bible, the ‘wild ox’ in Job 39:9 is probably an extinct type of wild cattle called an aurochs. They were much larger than most domesticated cows. According to Wikipedia, they went extinct in 1627 AD. Wikipedia also says:

    The wild-ox called re’em (Strong’s # 07214) in the Bible (Numbers 23:22 and 24:8, Deuteronomy [...]

In verse 10, the Lord arises in all His majesty to bring judgment on sinners: ” Now I will arise,” says Yahweh; “Now I will lift myself up. Now I will be exalted.” This is a scary thing for those who are under the Lord’s wrath. The sinners tremble at His coming. In the past, I [...]

Genesis 1:27  -  God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. What a good thing to recognize that God not only created us, but created us in his own image .  I recently read part of a book called Designed for Dignity . It was good in that it really stressed [...]
