Matt 19:8: Jesus replied, ”Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.”
Moses (or rather God through Moses) did not give the Israelites a perfect religion. The religion of the Old Testament was not a perfect religion, but contained compromises because of the hardness of human hearts.
But the God of the Old Testament is perfect! So we don’t study the Old Testament to find perfect religion, but to find a perfect God! Finding a perfect God is much better than finding a perfect religion anyway.
I should also mention, that similarly, when I married Hannah I didn’t get a perfect marriage, but I did get a perfect wife!
I don’t know about the wife part!
But I do agree that finding a perfect God is what makes everything meaningful.
