God does certainly seem to stand afar at times. I have felt that He has been absent in my career for a number of years. In this Psalm, God is absent from stopping the wicked from committing great evils. If there were ever a time to intervene that would certainly be the time. Yet God is withholding His judgment.
It is interesting that even the wicked recognize God’s absence. And this recognition encourages them to commit evil. Even still, God is good!
As I have been hoping for God to do great things with my career, yet none of these hopes have been realized, I have been thinking much about God keeping good things from us. I know that God has used this to make me think more about how wonderful He is. Not how wonderful His blessing are, but how wonderful He is!
Good insights. It makes me feel convicted . . . do I worship the blessings of God or God Himself? If I am so disappointed by not receiving the blessings of God, it might indicate that my hope is in the blessings and not in the Person. If our hope is in the Person, we will still be disappointed but our identity will not be shaken. Our identity will be in God.
Be encouraged, son! God has great things in store for you!
