Today is Passover. Last night was Good Friday and the start of Passover. Last night Jews and Christians around the world were honoring YHWH who saves! This morning, I opened my Bible and my eyes fell on Ezekiel 37:13 : “Then you shall know that I AM the LORD when I have [...] -

Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20) The ladies’ retreat had been refreshing. We were filled to overflowing with heavenly manna, but [...] -

Carolyn Anne Venable wrote a new blog post: Bring Us to Tears 9 months ago · View
“They don’t know how to cry,” I heard the Spirit whisper. Some of God’s people don’t know how to cry. Maybe that was one of the problems with the Laodicean church. (Revelation 3:14-22) Maybe a preoccupation with material wealth had quenched the Spirit which would have moved them to tears had they recognized their spiritually [...]

I was just thinking about sin the other day while reading Isaiah. I started to think… we take sin way too lightly! We take advantage of God’s grace perhaps without even recognizing it! I was reading Isaiah 65:2-5 and noticed how deliberately God’s chosen people sinned against Him. Go read it. And read the whole book [...]

So I was watching X-Men 3 last night with my wife (in response to the new X-Men movie which is good, I recommend!), and in the middle I started thinking, “Man that’d be tight to be Wolverine!” As I was thinking about running around and cutting people’s heads off I got a gentle reminder from the [...] -

“I come to the garden alone….” This hallowed hymn always strums an emotional chord deep within me. It beckons me to that place of sweet delight with the Lover of my soul. “And the joy we share, as we tarry there, none other can ever know.” It is there that we enter the Holy of [...]

Carolyn Anne Venable wrote a new blog post: Insights from Isaiah 11 months, 1 week ago · View
INTRODUCTION When I was a baby Christian, a Bible teacher was inquiring which books we would like to study. I chimed in, “Isaiah!” His comment, however, was in the negative, saying it was a lot of dry history and judgments. That was certainly not my take on the prophet. Even as young in the Lord as I [...]

“The city will never again be uprooted or demolished.” Jeremiah 31:40 Some people think that all the Old Testament prophecies have been fulfilled already. Certainly, enough of them have been that we can be assured that God’s word is true. But there remain numerous prophecies to be ultimately fulfilled regarding Jerusalem, the City of Peace. [...]

Okay, so I will say that this is coming from studying Leviticus for a long time in my OT class at DTS. I have been thinking, man, people don’t appreciate this part of the Scripture, but it is so rich if you simply take some time to draw it into today’s context (contextualizing). So, this didn’t [...] -

Today while praying for Israel, the Scripture came to mind “and so all Israel will be saved” (Romans 11:26). Be assured God knows how to deliver His own!
The nations are currently plotting against Jerusalem. The UN with Obama are devising a plan to divide Jerusalem. Notice the Scripture says, ”Half of the city shall go into captivity…” (Psalm 2:1-2; Zech 12:2-4; Zech 14:1-2) Well, when Zechariah 14:2 comes to pass, then the rest of Zechariah 14 is not far behind! ”Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!”

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory , glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth . We’ve all been there. Someone asks our opinion and we want to be truthful but we also don’t want to offend. The scenario is cliché on [...]

Okay, I am writing this knowing that I probably don’t have this whole idea completely understood (obviously)! I definitely haven’t perfected it and would love some dialog as to whether or not you think this is right, mainly because I don’t wanting to be teaching truth if it is not complete truth, that’s scary (James 3:1). How our Father loves to bestow good gifts on His children! (Matt 7:11; James 1:17) Psalm 37 is a psalm of inheritance. Notice how many times the word is mentioned. My precious granddaughter’s name is “Hephzibah”. It’s a beautiful name but it isn’t simple and it isn’t convenient. When people first hear it, they want it re-pronounced, spelt, and explained. But the meaning is lovely: “my delight is in her”. Would every child know that their parents delight in them! God placed this name in [...]

I have to admit that often I skim over the salutations of the epistles to get to the “meat”. But what precious nuggets are even in the greetings! What an appetizer we have here! Some who revere the Beatles might think it sacrilegious to change their lyrics, lovely as they are. But their melancholic lyrics don’t resonate truth for me. Christ “speaks and list’ning to His voice, new life the dead receive”! “Hear Him, ye deaf!” Who are these “dead” that Charles Wesley refers to in his hymn “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing”? We confess this frequently at my church: “Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.” These are foundational Christian beliefs. Do you believe Christ is coming again?
