    I noticed this site is getting hammered by the spam bots lately. Seems that every time you come in and clean it up, they come right back.

    Here is a pretty good discussion about bp spam with some ideas and plugins that actually work pretty well.

    I’d ignore the captcha as it is useless, but many of the other ideas seem to work pretty well when combined together. JJJ is also working on a few other tools to help in this battle.

    Have not seen you online here in what seems forever. It gets rather lonely talking to the spam bots all the time. they don’t seem to respond to any of my suggestions, lol.

    I’ve sent a few pm’s over the past few weeks, along with a few suggestion posts. Was kind of hoping to chat someday to see what is new with Biblefox dev.

    Yeah, I hate the spam, but I’m not too excited about any of the solutions people have mentioned. Things have gotten worse lately though, so I might just do some of those.

    My main tactic so far has been to have a ‘favorite bible references’ field which requires an actual bible reference. It definitely blocks most spammers but I think at least one spammer must have added support for it to his algorithm or something.

    What I would really like is Akismet support for registrations and Buddypress activities. It could scan BP activities for spam and if a user has a high percentage of spam automatically mark them as spam.
