This may be a dumb question, but who is Psalm 72 written about? (who is it a prayer for?) I first read it as a prayer about King Solomon, but I found myself thinking of Jesus as I kept reading…

Weird…I thought I commented on this last night, but I guess I fell asleep before I actually commented! I was so exhausted… Anyway…I did get to read this Psalm 119 passage, and I felt struck by how often David talks about God’s word. I want to love and treasure the word just as David does.

I was struck by Psalm 37:34 – “Wait for the LORD and keep his way.” When I think of following the Lord, and following his will for my life, I think of actions. When I picture “following” something, I usually envision an action taking place. However, sometimes the Lord asks us to wait. And we [...]

The B and HL Feb Fast Group: 2 years, 2 months ago · View”God is a righteous judge” (Psalm 7:11)
I find peace in knowing this. It’s sometimes easy to let pride seep in and begin to judge people either inwardly or outwardly, but ultimately God is the most righteous judge. And just as Psalm 7:9 says, he is a God ”who searches minds and hearts”. So he knows things that we may never see or hear! He knows our motives, our thoughts.
And I love how David says, ”let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD…” Not only is he pointing fingers and telling God to judge others, but he’s saying judge ME also.

The B and HL Feb Fast Group: 2 years, 3 months ago · ViewSometimes when I feel like I’m not hearing God, it’s usually because I’m running around like a crazy person and trying to figure things out for myself. It’s hard for me to just sit and be still and listen for the Lord.
I love Psalm 4:4 – ”when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.”
Especially this month as I’ve been reading just before going to bed, it’s nice to sit here and be with the Lord, and search my heart for what He might want me to hear.

Yes! Good thoughts. This reminded me of a common saying in my house growing up, but I hadn’t really paid attention to the meaning until the past couple of years. My parents would always say, ”Si Dios quiere” (which means ”God willing”), after someone would talk about something in the future. Back then I just saw it as some routine phrase that was tacked on to everything, but now I feel like those words have a whole new meaning. They signify recognizing that God is in control of your life and will happen today, tomorrow and the next.

blanca posted an update about Psalm 2 in the group
The B and HL Feb Fast Group: 2 years, 3 months ago · ViewI read this Psalm several times, and each time the last verse kept sticking out to me. I feel like the tone of this Psalm (for the most part) is kind of like a warning, and there are lots of words describing God’s wrath and rebuking. But I feel like the last verse (Ps 2:12) is just this sweet encouragement.
”Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
Such a comforting thought.
And also I just really like the word ”refuge.”

The B and HL Feb Fast Group: 2 years, 3 months ago · ViewOh man… as I read the first verse and the words ”counsel of the wicked” I almost immediately thought of my relationship with V. There have been many times when I have felt more influenced by what she said or thought rather than what the Lord was telling me. I don’t want to be that way! I want to delight in the law of the Lord, ALWAYS!
Although I feel like I don’t seek her approval or praise as much now as I have in the past, I’m sure there is still room for me to grow in this area.

This is a good question. It seems to be written about Solomon but I think you are absolutely right that it points to Christ as well!
