One day Jonathan son of Saul said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side.” But he did not tell his father… No one was aware that Jonathan had left. On each side of the pass that Jonathan intended to cross to reach the Philistine outpost was a cliff; one was [...]

“Christians should not barely consider what is in itself lawful to be done, but what is fit for them to do.”Matthew Henry Commentary on 1 Cor 6:12. It seems that the maxim “All things are lawful for me” was referring to all food was now lawful to eat (see context), NOT giving a license for sins of the flesh, as some were evidently misapplying it.

Today is Passover. Last night was Good Friday and the start of Passover. Last night Jews and Christians around the world were honoring YHWH who saves! This morning, I opened my Bible and my eyes fell on Ezekiel 37:13 : “Then you shall know that I AM the LORD when I have [...] -

Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Sing, o barren! “He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!” (Ps 113:9) Abraham’s wife Sarai was barren . (Gen 11:30) But Abraham believed God. Then in God’s timing, Isaac, the child of promise was born in their old age. Isaac’s wife Rebekah was barren. (Gen 25:21) But Isaac pleaded with the Lord and she [...]

Staggering statistics there about only 20% finishing well. However, all the apostles (excepting Judas) finished well! We have the indwelling Holy Spirit which the OT saints did not! And we have the promise of God that He gives us the desires of our hearts and your desire is Him. But, I understand what you mean. [...]

I love the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah!” but his experience is different than mine. So, if I ever sing it somewhere, I’ll sing these lyrics: ♥ There was a time Christ let me know Why He stepped down to this earth below But do you really want to know, now do ya? Lay down your [...]

I’ve always thought the Second Coming will be the BIGGEST EVENT of human history. It seems the great commentator Matthew Henry agrees. Without the Second Coming, ”all the other articles of the Christian faith will signify very little; this is that which fills up and gives the finishing stroke to all the rest.” (on 2 Peter 3) Amen! He continues: ”The believer not only desires that he may come, but having a promise that he will come, he is also firmly and fully persuaded that he will come.” We are admonished to be ”looking for the Day of God” and also to be ”hastening” it! (2 Peter 3:12) Now, may you understand why this is a subject I reference often in conversation. Maranatha! Come, LORD Jesus, come!
Don’t let anyone deprive you of the promise, the Blessed Hope of His Coming! (Titus 2:13) Those who mockingly ask ’Where is the promise of His coming?’ scoffers! (2 Peter 3:3) Jesus WILL COME again! All through Scripture, is the promise of His Coming to judge evil and redeem His people! (See also Matthew 13:38-43)
PS: a clarification: ”I’ve always thought” should be clarified with ”since I realized He was coming again” after I was delivered.

The song of Moses in Deuteronomy 32 begins with Moses saying, “Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak , and let the earth hear the words of my mouth . May my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew, like gentle rain upon the tender grass, and like showers upon the herb. For I will proclaim the [...]

Verse 17 stood out to me today. In our OT Survey class, we discussed that parents should avoid making rules before they’re needed, lest the child get ideas from the rules. For example, if you tell your kid he cannot put peas in his nose, you may have just given him an idea that never occurred to him. So when I read verse 17 today, I appreciated that God, being a fantastic Father, tried to keep us from the knowledge of good & evil. If only we would have listened!

We have a choice between a ”second death” or a second birth! These are your choices:
God is going to judge evil! That’s a good thing! He doesn’t want these comic troublemakers and terrorists running around forever wreaking havoc. Haven’t you asked yourself why God allows such evil. He will put a stop to it all. All evil will be thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:14)
The devil and all his minions are doomed. The question is whose side are you on? Do you fight for evil or do you root for good? God decides what’s good and evil. In the end, it’s His opinion that matters. But let’s get back to your second choice because eternity in a lake of fire with the hordes of hell does not sound like a rational option.
Your alternative is to jump aboard the Ark of safety. This Ark of safety is Jesus Christ. Your choice is eternal life in Christ Jesus or you’re going down with the ”second death”. There is no other option, folks. All evil will be banished by God from this beautiful reality He created for us.
So your choice is eternal life through the second birth experience in which you are born again and enter into the Ark of safety and get your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Your life will be safely ”hid in Christ” while this final judgment is made.
God always encourages us to ”choose life” but the choice is yours.
