  • natalie wrote a new blog post: whatever gain i had, i count it all as loss   1 week, 5 days ago · View

I was reading Philippians 3:7-11 this morning and reflecting on counting “all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (verse 8). I kept asking myself, what do I count as gain? What rubbish thing am I holding on to? Do I live like Christ is infinitely [...]

“The critical question for our generation – and for every generation – is this: If you could have heaven, with no sickness, and with all the friends you ever had on earth, and all the food you ever liked, and all the leisure activities you ever enjoyed, and all the natural beauties you ever saw, all [...]

In reply to - Carolyn Anne Venable posted an update: Having just last night watched ”The Book of Eli”, which I highly recommend (though maybe not for children due to violence and some inappropriate language used by the lawless ones), I am so thankful for the Word of God! I wrote a devotional on Psalm 78 for our church’s Join the Journey devo site.  Here it is: — — — God has done so much. This is the Creator of the Universe we’re talking about! He created the earth, gave us life, saved us through Jesus Christ, and is sovereign and active in our [...]

I got to speak today at a funeral for an 8-month old baby boy that was the son of a friend in the young adult ministry here at Hill Country. He was born with health problems and he spent a lot of time in the hospital in his life. Today I was thinking about how [...]

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”  –Matt. 6:21 “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks”  –Matt. 12:34b Our conversation and our words show where our heart is and thus reflect where our treasure is. I hope I treasure Christ so much that my lips can’t help but speak about Him. “Whom [...]

I’m sad I haven’t gotten to update my blog much at all recently. Wedding planning has taken over my life. Not really, but it has taken enough time out of my day to prevent me from writing in my blog as much. It will soon be over though! Yay! I can’t wait to relax on [...]

  • natalie wrote a new blog post: speaking boldly   5 months, 4 weeks ago · View

Tory and I have been reading and discussing Acts recently. It’s been interesting to see the sermons from the early church. They were direct, straightforward, and bold with the good news of Jesus Christ. Peter tells the people what he witnessed. He tells them plainly that they killed the Christ. He uses Old Testament proof [...]

“In their search for facts men have confused truths with truth. The words of Christ, ‘Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free’ have been wrenched from their context and used to stir people to the pursuit of knowledge of many kinds with the expectation of being made ‘free’ (John 8:32), [...]

  • natalie wrote a new blog post: thoughts on faith and works…   6 months, 2 weeks ago · View

    Faith must lead to action.

It’s pretty clear: “faith without works is dead” (James 2:26).

“‘…show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works’” (James 2:18)

We are to live out our faith in obedience to God.
