Some of us are guilty of not sharing the good news while some of us think we have fulfulled the great commission by preaching on a street corner. I think Jesus’ example here speaks for itself. He not only came to preach but to lay down his life. His example always interests me. At times [...]

This is a question I struggle with as well. It seems quite clear that God allowed in the Old Testament what we would term as genocide these days. What has changed? I don’t believe God has but struggle to understand his hand in this. I agree with Alan’s opinion that judgement should be on the [...]

I’m wondering if there are lessons to learn from what Joseph did. Being given a vision and sharing it are two separate things. Did God intend Joseph to share his dreams considering they would not in any way be understood at the time? Did God originally intend for Joseph’s dreams to be fulfilled the hard [...]

If I set out to write a holy book, would I include a passage like this one? Probably not. Some claim that Christians have changed, diluted, or otherwise meddled with scripture but after seeing such passages I’m encouraged. Wouldn’t the Jews, a nation later enslaved by the pharaohs, paint Pharaoh in a worse light? Wouldn’t [...]

I’ve never understood this passage… why God would bless Abraham for abusing his wife to such an extent? I’ve never known how to answer the criticism levelled at the bible over this passage either except in the manner you both do. God still wants a relationship with us despite our weaknesses. Although no-one seemed to [...]

Good discussion here Alan, I’d love to see the issues debated or even talked about in churches. The fact that there is even a controversy within the church usually means that the issue doesn’t surface or only the one side is dealt with.

Don’t worry Alan, I’m not professing to have all the answers or even to claim I have reached a conclusion about what I believe took place. What is important to me is to attempt to remove that bias you refer too when looking at the facts. If what we believe is true then the facts [...]

There are allot of commonly accepted evolutionary theories out there that seem to contradict the Bible and not being a biologist, I can’t speak with any authority on the subject. Maybe there is one out there who can give us their opinion. What is hard, is to know when to wait with faith for my [...]

Does God have to act outside of scientific understanding to gain our respect? In the past it may have been considered a miracle that rain fell on the earth and while we understand the process and its components more thoroughly today, should it give me any less of a sense of wonder? Mountains erupting from the [...]
